The Biggest Fight Of His (George Zimmerman) Life!

The biggest fight that George Zimmerman has ever gotten into was not two years ago when he killed Trayvon Martin and the biggest fight that he’ll ever get in, if the sickening rumors are true won’t be against a once one time great rapper turned actor (DMX) who is now emotionally, physically, and spiritually in a very bad and troubling place. The biggest fight of Zimmerman’s life is against the schemes of the devil. It’s the same fight that I wake up and by the grace of God and overcome or by my own might succumb to every single day. As painful as it is to admit, George Zimmerman and I are a lot alike in that sense. We are both sinners, sinners in need of a Perfect and Sinless Savior.

George Zimmerman is like me (Representation of the Christian, specifically the brother clergy) because he has an aim for fame. It’s sickening for us to use the murder of someone’s son to make our name well known and to make us the talk of the town. This is exactly what George Zimmerman has done. He has successfully become a household name because he killed someone’s son. His celebrity status (like it or not) finds its foundation on the facts that George Zimmerman killed Trayvon attempting to be something that he really was not and still is not, and that George Zimmerman struggled that day and still even-to this very day struggles with a deceitful and wicked heart. A heart, according to Scripture that is just like mine (Jeremiah 17:9). You may ask how does this make me or us or you like George Zimmerman? The desire to make your own name great. The murder of Jesus, God’s Son, is used and abused by Christians all over the world so that the preacher and the preacher alone can be and become a household name. Our aim for fame has minimized the murder of Jesus in such a way that the one who tells the story is telling with such a twist and in such a tone that the One who story is about fades away from being the focus! Yep the worship leader, the preacher, the Gospel artist has become so fame focused that God’s Son being killed is not the focus anymore. It’s almost as if we’ve forgotten that it was us who killed Him! Yep, those were both mine and your sins that Christ bore on Calvary’s Cross. I’m glad His Story doesn’t stop with my sin and a execution in which I should have been the one. I rejoice in the truth that although He died He didn’t stay dead!

George Zimmerman is like me because he uses the death of someone’s son to build his fortune. Way too many of us, like Mr. Zimmerman are money and material hungry. You know it’s bad when you kill somebody’s son and live large off of it. Every time George Zimmerman gets a chance to twist the story about what took place that night some major corporation cuts him a check. It’s gotten so bad that he has reached that “celebrity status” so now he’s paid to do so-called charity events, getting rich because he killed someone’s son. The unfortunate reality is that’s just like some clergy and Christian artist today. Getting filthy rich and I do mean filthy because they keep getting invited to twist the story about God’s Son. Like George Zimmerman, celebrity preachers, celebrity preacher want-to-be’s and celebrity Christian artist are giving only bits and pieces of the story because if they tell the Truth the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth then their fortune may just dwindle down to modest living. Christian men and women are getting rich by twisting the story. May God forgive us for twisting what thus says The Lord!

George Zimmerman is just like me because as long as there is breath in his body he can be forgiven. “If we are confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). God has extended us the grace to repent. This is a sin issue. It’s a scheme of the devil issue. A issue that’s much much bigger than George Zimmerman yet an issue that is not at all too great for God. Therefore Paul declares, being dictated to by the Holy Spirit in his letter to the Ephesians this, “Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10,11 ESV).

Embracing God’s Grace,

D. Hayes
